My heart held hands with anxiety

'Let go, I said, and you will be free.'

Heart poem by Words of Faith

Somewhere in between working 9-5, straining over a long writer's block, forcing to be creative and planning a wedding; I realised I was subtly growing anxious.

About the future, about right now, about what if. Until one morning I read a scripture that couldn't have come at a more perfect time. It read:

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

How could I be anxious when God had promised me this?

From then, I spoke to my heart. This is what I had to say...

My heart held hands with anxiety

And she slowly withered away.

Let go, I said.

She had fear, for holding on was all she'd ever known.

His lies both bringing forth evil and

Consoling her when it came.

See, I told you, he lied.

Now it hurts less because you saw it coming...

Hold on

to my hand, he said.

I will show you every fear

Every possibility that will not be.

Hold on, he said.

Til we become one and

I will guide your life.

Hold on, he said.

No one will see.

Hold on, he said.

Thinking over with me gives you full control.

I watched her believe his lies

and swiftly fade into his facade.

Let go

I said,

And peace will wash over every strain.

Believe

I said,

And your joy will be made full

As the impossible unveils in you instead.

Surrender

I said,

And your God will take full control

Showing you how He never. Ever fails.

Let go

I said,

And you will be free.

I know letting go makes you feel alone

But I promise,

In time, you will only feel more whole.

- Faithful xoxo

This serves as a personal reminder to let go. To unhand the thoughts that are not my own. To release the clasp of fear and break the grip of every and any chain.
